notawebcomic

comics that aren't

Not a webcomic?

If it's not a webcomic then what is it?

It's a home for comics that aren't (and expirements in sequential art).

So... it's sequential art posted on the web? Sounds like a webcomic to me.

Ok, McCloud.

Fine. It is a webcomic, I guess.

What's the webcomic about?

It's not a single webcomic, it's more a bag filled with allsorts. Over the years I've written down all sorts of ideas for comics that never went anywhere. So this is hopefully where they'll go now.

Comics posted here could look like anything. An excerpt from a '50s newspaper strip, a standalone short story, a series of fictional comic covers, a choose-your-own-adventure comic, etcetera. The only thing they'll have in common is that they don't exist.

I intend to run each comic between two weeks to a month as if it was an ongoing series.

Inspiration

I think the main, if unconcious, inspiration behind notawebcomic are the following things:

Unmade Podcast

A podcast where each episode they discuss a number of ideas for podcasts that don't exist. Occasionally they make one of these podcasts as a one-off episode.

Aquila the Last Eagle

My friend Daily's imaginary long-running comic series. Started as a school project it presents itself as if it's a long running newspaper comic series.

Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics

Scott McCloud's exploration of sequential art and comics on the web. I intend to at some point expiriment a bit with what a comic on the web can look like, including some of his infinite canvas ideas.
